Our goal is to teach our youth the truth of Jesus Christ through the unchanging word of God, to train-up the youth as leaders in church and community, so that they will not depart from it.

We would like to assist you in your vocation as Christian parents by offering opportunities for your children to learn, grow, and serve, in the name of our Lord. Together we can help our youth grow, walking in the purpose that God has intended for them…to be His holy people.

We provide many programs and services for our youth: Children’s Church, Lambs Message, Nursery Care, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and a Youth Group for our teens.

CHILDREN’S CHURCH

Meets at the 10:30 am service after “Lamb’s Message”
September-May: Children in grades 1st-6th

Children will participate in an informal worship service where they are encouraged to take part by reading scripture, lighting candles, and discussing sermon topics. Outside play, gym time, and crafts, is included when time permits.

“Let the little children come unto me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter.” Then he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on each of them and blessed them.
~ Matthew 10, 14-16 ~

LAMBS MESSAGE

Each week, the “lambs” of the congregation gather before the altar to hear a message from our Pastor or the Chancel Assistant, geared especially for them. For many of the Lord’s precious lambs, this children’s talk is the high point of their worship experience.

NURSERY CARE

The Nursery at Huntington Woods Lutheran Church is designed to provide a safe, secure, and loving environment for our children. While you are learning and worshiping, you can relax and feel confident that your child is receiving excellent care.

  • VOLUNTEERS: We desire the best care for our infants and toddlers, and therefore, the adult-to-child ratio is kept extremely low. We utilize church member volunteers (adults or teens), on a rotating basis, to assist our paid caregiver. Teens must have a Red Cross Babysitting Certificate, or its equivalent.
  • SAFETY POLICY: We use a check-in system in the Nursery. When you drop off your child you must sign them in and designate who is allowed to pick them up. In the event a child needs you to return to the Nursery, we will come and get you.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The mission of the Huntington Woods Lutheran Church Sunday School Program is to, “train them up in the way they should go.” We hope to teach the love and meaning of God’s Word to the young people of our congregation in a safe and loving environment. Sunday School is available for children age 4 through High School.

After looking over and considering several options for materials, the curriculum chosen for our Sunday school program is the “Growing in Christ” series, by Concordia Publishing. This curriculum is rich in God’s Holy Word, and teaches the children all the major stories of the Old and New Testament. These materials were chosen to teach the language and shape of Christian faith and life in the Lutheran Church, grounding students in the Bible, Small Catechism, and hymnal. Interestingly, since the materials are from a Missouri Synod Lutheran publishing house, the curriculum closely follows the lessons that are presented in church.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

We are very proud of our VBS Program; open to our children, and children of our community. Each summer, typically the 3rd of 4th week of June, we conduct a fun-filled week of bible stories, games, crafts, singing, and much more. Each year approximately 75-100 children attend, and over 30 volunteers. During VBS the kids explore 5 Bible stories about Jesus and his never ending love for them.

As always, we have very creative craft projects (a favorite of the kids), wonderfully tasty snacks, fun games at recess, and catchy songs to sing! Our enthusiastic youth, and our multi-talented Pastor, put on a daily skit! We even produce and deliver a daily newsletter, to keep the parents informed of the lessons and activities! We have a loving staff in place.

Volunteers are always needed. Over 30 volunteers are needed for this successful program. Planning and preparation for this week-long activity takes several months. As a result, there are many opportunities to serve before, during, and after the actual week of the VBS.

YOUTH GROUP – HIGH SCHOOL

Our Youth gather together as Christians, to connect with each other, and grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. They incorporate these learnings into their decision-making process, as they become independent and gain their own identity in Christ. They have fun and fellowship with other young Christians, and strive to serve the church and the community by using their gifts and talents. They are challenged by Bible Study, Small Groups, Servant Events, Social Events, Retreats, Conventions, and other opportunities.
