In the summer of 1944, a number of Detroit-area pastors felt that a mission congregation should be established to serve Huntington Woods and the south-east corner of Berkley. A pastor was called to accomplish that task, and by February of 1945 the first services of the Huntington Woods Lutheran Church were held in the Burton School. On April 15 of 1945 the congregation was officially organized and a charter and constitution were signed and adopted. In June of 1945, the congregation was officially received as a member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Shortly thereafter plans were made for the construction of a church building. |
