Music has always been an integral part of worship in the Lutheran Church. One or more of our musical groups perform nearly every Sunday at the 10:30am worship service. Our music ministry includes opportunities for those of all ages, even those without a musical background. Being part of an ensemble (Adult & Children’s Choirs, Handbells, Youth Hand Chimes, and Instrumental Ensembles) at HWLC allows us to offer our time and talent to help proclaim the Gospel, in fellowship with others who enjoy active participation in a musical program. It allows us to engage in worship and present a message, through music, that may reach someone differently than the written or spoken word. We strive for excellence in all that we do, in thanks and praise to God.

ADULT CHOIR

The Adult Vocal Choir is open to everyone from Confirmation Age thru Adults. Rehearsals are weekly on Tuesday from 7:00pm – 8:15pm, plus Sunday 9:30 – 10:15am. The choir performs almost every week during the 10:30am worship service. The choir sings traditional/blended music divided into 4 part format (SATB).

HANDBELL CHOIR

The Huntington Woods Lutheran Church music program includes the unique sound of a Handbell Choir. Individual musicians play multiple bells, each supporting a different portion of the musical scale, in the piece they are performing. The result is a very pure, moving sound.

The Handbell choir rehearses every Sunday morning at 8:00am, September thru June, and usually performs monthly. There are currently 10 “ringers.”

CHILDREN’S CHOIR

Our Children’s Vocal Choir is open to all children through Confirmation age. Rehearsals are held Sunday mornings from 9:00 – 9:30am. During the school year, they perform 1-2 times per month, at the 10:30am worship. Traditional music is chosen, suitable for children’s voices. Strong emphasis is placed on the song’s meaning, as well as the production of the sound.

YOUTH HAND CHIMES

The Hand Chime Choir performs alone, or with the Handbell Choir; they usually play for the Children’s Christmas Program. Rehearsals are at 9:00am on Sundays, and lasts about 20 minutes. Joining the Hand Chime Choir is a wonderful way for young people to praise their Lord.

INSTRUMENTS OF PRAISE

Our Instrumental Ensemble is for anyone who plays a traditional orchestral or band instrument. The ensemble performs at the 10:30am service, as scheduled. Rehearsals are on Sunday, following the 10:30am worship, as directed by our Music Director and subject to player availability.
